First came low calorie Prosecco, now, thanks to a Start Up Loan, a sugar free ice cream is set to send the market into meltdown.

The new product has been created by Warrington based Fit Cream, which boasts a patent to confirm its sugar free credentials and uses a secret formula and manufacturing process to create the ice-cream texture and taste, without using any of the sugar that is used in most commercial ice-creams products.

The product has been developed by Fit Cream Director Mark Ball and Cheshire based Reaseheath Food Centre, an industry-leading academy with an international reputation in the food and drink sector, using the Start Up Loan and a £5k Innovation Voucher awarded by the Technology Strategy Board.

Mark, a fitness fanatic who has many triathlons and marathons under his belt, is now looking for partners to help him to market the range more widely and to launch a new range aimed specifically at children.

Mark said: “The Start Up Loan and support from BFS enabled us to bring it consumers who want to enjoy ice-cream but are concerned about the harmful effects on our bodies of eating sugar.”
